Effective · Applies to WiFi Tracer for iOS, version 1.0 and later
Summary
WiFi Tracer is made by FaithDevs. The app has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no server of its own. FaithDevs does not receive, store or sell any information about you or your network.
What stays on your iPhone
Test results, history, monitors, saved hosts, the names you give to devices and your settings are stored only in the app’s storage on your device. They are deleted when you delete the app. If you use iCloud device backups, they are included in that backup under Apple’s terms. You can share a result yourself (for example, a CSV or PDF report) using the iOS share sheet. That is your choice and goes only where you send it.
Permissions
- Precise Location (while using the app). iOS only gives the Wi‑Fi network name (SSID) and BSSID to apps that have Precise Location. WiFi Tracer uses it only to read those two values. It never reads, stores or sends your coordinates. You can decline and every tool still works; the network name is simply hidden.
- Local Network. Lets the LAN scan, Bonjour/mDNS, UPnP, security audit and hidden camera tools find devices on the network your phone is connected to. Results stay on your device.
- Notifications (optional). Used only for local alerts you turn on, such as a monitored host going down or a new device joining. They are generated on the device.
Third-party services the app contacts
Some tools need to talk to a public service to measure anything. Like any internet request, these services see your public IP address. WiFi Tracer sends them nothing else about you, and FaithDevs has no access to their logs. Each service has its own privacy policy.
| Service | Used by | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare (speed.cloudflare.com, cloudflare-dns.com, cp.cloudflare.com) | Speed test, DNS, captive portal | Download/upload measurement, DNS over HTTPS, connectivity check |
| Clouvider (speedtest.clouvider.net) | Speed test | Regional speed test servers (London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, New York) |
| ipify (api.ipify.org, api6.ipify.org) | Home, Wi‑Fi, leak test | Shows your public IPv4/IPv6 address |
| ipwho.is | IP geolocation, leak test | City and network (ASN) for an IP address |
| Google Public DNS (dns.google), Quad9 (dns.quad9.net) | DNS lookup, DNS benchmark | DNS over HTTPS queries for the names you look up |
| rdap.org | WHOIS & RDAP | Domain and IP registration data |
| crt.sh | Host inspector | Public certificate transparency records |
| Apple, Google, Microsoft connectivity checks | Captive portal, why is it slow | Detect login pages on public Wi‑Fi |
| Hosts you enter | Ping, traceroute, port scanner, inspector | The tool contacts the host you asked it to test |
Opening a location on a map hands the coordinates of an IP address (not your location) to Apple Maps.
Tracking
WiFi Tracer does not track you across apps or websites, does not use the advertising identifier and includes no third-party SDKs.
Children
The app is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If the app ever starts collecting data, the App Store privacy label and this page will be updated before that version is released.
